emm but you are talking about their success.. I know roughtrade wouldn´t sign them ( at least without the strokes before), but I mean to say that the libs started the band so much before the strokes hit, and I´m sure their influences are the jam, the clash, or the kinks, and not the strokes definitely. so u are right if u are saying that it was the reason of their success , but they didn´t start the libertines because of the strokes.
The Libertines always said different things each interview. Don´t think they were a huge influence, but I think they knew them and somewhat liked their music, as carl likes the velvet underground and the strokes are a pop version ofthe velvet underground.

I guess I’ll end up accepting the fact I’m not The Strokes’ frontman, I’m not as handsome and charismatic as Julian, I did’nt tour the world with Fab, Nick, Nikolai and Albert, and I didn’t write Someday, nor Reptilia or You Only Live Once. But I’m never gonna get over the fact I don’t have Julian’s voice. I’m in love with it.
